Dr. Gizem Özer Özgür is a senior architect (Dipl. Eng.), researcher, and educator based in İzmir–İstanbul. She holds a Bachelor’s in Architecture with honors from İzmir Institute of Technology and Jönköping University, and earned her MSc and PhD in Architectural Design from İstanbul Technical University, where she also served as a research and teaching assistant (2012–2024).
Her academic experience includes visiting researcher roles in Europe and the USA, and involvement in Erasmus projects in France, Portugal, and Lithuania. Her work has been presented at international conferences and published in indexed journals, with design projects exhibited at events such as the İstanbul Design Biennial and Contemporary İstanbul.
She is co-founder of the trademarked Günlük Atölyeler Serisi (Daily Workshop Series), promoting lifelong, experiential learning. Since 2018, she has led over 50 workshops across Turkey and edited the book Mesafeli Atölyeler. In parallel, she has worked professionally as a consultant on industrial architecture and interior design projects, earning several awards in design and writing competitions.
Her research focuses on design thinking, material culture, and the socio-cultural dimensions of architecture, with a multidisciplinary approach. She currently teaches “Design-Based Entrepreneurship” at Ostim Technical University.
